Capabilities is a Public property that indicates the capabilities supported on the server for the message client. 

Capabilities has little meaning in TIdMessageClient, since the protocol needed to identify server capabilities is not implemented in the class. Use a descendant class where Capabilities is published and implemented for the protocol.
